It’s a perfect day to go out for a walk, I feel like I’m going to wander around Barcelona a bit, I’ll take the metro to find out if I’d be interested in Living in Sagrada Familia.
As usual, I wander aimlessly, looking to the sides and up, to see how things are here and how the real estate market in the Sagrada Familia neighborhood is doing.
The Sagrada Familia neighborhood has a lot of history, very different from our previous stop at Living in Diagonal Mar.
The Sagrada Familia neighborhood is located on the far right of l’Eixample, in the upper part.
Formerly known as the Barrio de Poblet, it was a neighborhood of fields and small houses around what is now Calle Valencia.
What gave personality and name to the neighborhood was the commission to build in 1881 the well-known temple, La Sagrada Familia.
Currently the neighborhood includes the Encants neighborhood at the lower end.
The Sagrada Familia neighborhood is one of the neighborhoods chosen by thousands or hundreds of thousands of people to live in the city of Barcelona.
It is in the 22nd position in the range of the most expensive neighborhoods in the city of Barcelona – with a total of 73 neighborhoods.
It is one of the best areas to live in if you want to be well connected and maintain the essence of a neighborhood with history and tradition.
The Sagrada Familia real estate market stands out for its large flats, from the old days. With many square meters and interiors that have a lot of play.
The best apartments in Sagrada Familia are large, spacious and some have high ceilings. From the time when families had more than one child and opted to live in a city and not abandon the comfort of a large and spacious apartment.
In addition to that, many have balconies in the rear, with views of the city and patios – more like mega interior patios – that take your breath away.
As soon as I get out of the subway I realize that everything here has its history.
I have been told that in this neighborhood I can still find shops and businesses of a lifetime, with tradition and a history behind it.
My intention today is not to go to the Basilica of the Sagrada Familia, that is full of tourists and today I want something closer.
I have left home without breakfast and I am hungry, so today I will eat walking.
I see a place that seems traditional, what I am looking for, is called Cal Sardà and it seems that I am going to put on my boots.
I go in and wait for the store to empty, it’s hard because people are constantly coming and going. I excuse myself by saying that I’m thinking about it… a lie!
I’m going to sew questions to the shop assistant. After a while, and after stopping the conversation a few times, I walk out of there with some things.
The store dates back to the 1930s and in its beginnings it was a dairy, since then many years have passed and the store has been reformed maintaining its initial essence.
But the best thing is that you take a walk there.
I turn around and go upstairs, I have been told that the municipal market is a boiling place where I can see people who have been shopping for a long time.
I want to take the pulse of the neighborhood and see where the old school in the neighborhood are moving. The ladies and gentlemen of a lifetime of +50 or 60 years.
Its construction dates back to 1993 so I don’t expect to find myself in front of an old building from the ’50s.
Inside I see a bunch of old fashioned shops – the smell of pickles washes over me and reminds me that I still haven’t planned on a mid-day meal.
Perfect, tonight I’m having a tomato and fig salad for dinner, so I make my mental list and shop.
Everything must be chopped up and presented like a salad. It seems not, but it is very good.
I walk out of there with a bag and take a deep breath. I could get used to the neighborhood, Living in Sagrada Familia is a good choice.
While I am going towards the subway, I come across a lady who is talking on the phone.
It is a beautiful place, when you see it you will not believe the place they have found to live….
I walk over and ask…
On our next outing, we’ll find out the place the lady was referring to and I’m not going to reveal any more.
